The Alliance for Women in Media has announced the winners of its 2011 Gracie Allen awards, according to a report in Variety. The prizes, which recognize excellence in programming created by, for and about women, will be presented in a ceremony to be held on May 24 in Los Angeles.
Among the winners is Piper Perabo, who has been named Outstanding Female Actor in a Breakthrough Role for her work on USA’s Covert Affairs. In addition, Rosie Perez will receive the Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Special award for In Plain Sight; Claire Danes’ work in Temple Grandin has earned her the Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Series or Special award; and Alfre Woodard will receive the award for a supporting role in a drama series or special for Delta Blues.
Among the other winners are Miranda Cosgrove, Katie Couric, Martha Stewart, Meredith Vieira, and Betty White.
