The Pitt's Lucas Iverson and More to Join Wendell Pierce in Othello

Shakespeare Theatre Company has unveiled full casting for its upcoming production of Othello, with Tony nominee Wendell Pierce set to take on the title role. Directed by STC Artistic Director Simon Godwin, the production will run May 19-June 28.

Pierce, known for The Wire, Treme, and Elsbeth, earned a Tony nomination for his performance as Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman.

He is joined by Ben Turner as Iago, with Olivia Cygan as Desdemona and Lucas Iverson as Cassio. The cast also includes Melanie Field as Emilia, Daniel Velez as Roderigo, Giovanna Alcântara Drummond as Bianca, Derek Garza as Montano/Senator Romano, Joey Collins as Brabantio/Salarino, and Todd Scofield as the Duke of Venice.

The ensemble features Jon Beal, C.J. Craig, Sofía Hernandez Morales, Anna Marzullo, Claire Hilton, Vish Shukla, Cole Sitilides, James Whalen, and Em Whitworth. Craig Wallace is the Othello understudy.

Godwin directs Shakespeare’s tragedy of jealousy, manipulation, and betrayal, in which Othello, a celebrated general, is driven to doubt his wife’s fidelity after the machinations of his associate, Iago.

The production will feature scenic and co-costume design by Susan Hilferty, co-costume design by Sarita P. Fellows, lighting design by Amith A. Chandrashaker, sound design by Christopher Shutt, wig and hair design by Satellite Wigs Inc., original composition by Shiloh Coke, choreography by Jonathan Goddard, voice and text coaching by Lisa Beley, fight direction by Robb Hunter, and dramaturgy by Drew Lichtenberg.
