Christopher Meloni to Join Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon et al. in Superman: Man of Steel Film

Stage veteran Christopher Meloni has joined the cast for the upcoming film, Superman: Man of Steel, according to published reports. Zack Snyder will direct.

Meloni, who will be playing a General in the film, has starred as Eddie Carbone in the Gate Theatre’s 2005 production of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge and Bill Starbuck in the 1998 Williamstown Theatre Festival production of The Rainmaker, among other stage roles. He is best known for his role as Detective Elliot Stabler in Law & Order: SVU.

As previously reported, the film is also slated to star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Michael Shannon as General Zod, and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Superman’s adoptive Earth parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent.
