Carolyn d’Amboise Dies at 81

Carolyn d’Amboise, a noted dancer who later founded the National Dance Institute with her husband Jacques, has died in New York at age 81, according to The Associated Press. She had been battling primary lateral sclerosis for many years.

She was a dancer with both the San Francisco and New York City Ballet, and later appeared in the Broadway shows On Your Toes and Shinbone Alley. After retiring as a dancer, she became a professional photographer.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: the actress Charlotte d’Amboise, the actor and dancer Christopher d’Amboise, George d’Amboise, and Catherine d’Amboise. A memorial service is being planned for March 30 in New York City.
