Cabaret stalwarts Ann Hampton Callaway, Barbara Carroll, and Bobby Short will participate in a panel discussion titled “Comparing Notes on a Life in Cabaret,” to be hosted by WNYC’s Leonard Lopate on Sunday, April 27 at the 92nd Street Y.
Short, a cabaret institution who taught himself to play and sing by ear, will begin his 35th season at the Café Carlyle on May 6, while Carroll just finished her record-breaking, 24th annual run at the famed Bemelmans Bar in the Carlyle Hotel and is currently enjoying a stint at Birdland. Callaway is equally well known and well respected as a performer, instructor, and songwriter.
The “Comparing Notes” event will be held at the Y, located at 92nd Street and Lexington Avenue, on April 27, beginning at 7:30pm. Tickets are $22 and may be purchased by calling 212-415-5500 or through the website www.92Y.org.
