Emmy Award winner Bruce Vilanch will host the 2008 Nightlife Awards, created and produced by TheaterMania contributor Scott Siegel. The show will be held at Town Hall on January 28.
The Nightlife Awards honor the best of New York’s cabaret, comedy, and jazz by having the award winners perform rather than deliver acceptance speeches. The awards are decided upon by more than two-dozen critics and experts on four different panels.
Vilanch played Edna Turnblad in the Broadway production of Hairspray and appeared Off-Broadway in Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell and his solo show, Bruce Vilanch: Almost Famous. Vilanch has contributed material to numerous Academy Awards broadcasts and has worked extensively with such performers as Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, and Joan Rivers.
