Bruce Kimmel’s Memoir Album Produced By… Has Been Released

Bruce Kimmel’s memoir Album Produced By… is now available for purchase online and in bookstores.

In the book, actor/writer/director Kimmel revisits his experiences as a record producer, at both Varese Sarabande, where he produced over 120 albums, and later at the Kritzerland label. Among the personalities who figure in the memoir are Stephen Sondheim, Lauren Bacall, Elaine Stritch, Dorothy Loudon, John Kander, Schmidt and Jones, Jerry Herman, Carol Channing, Petula Clark, and Helen Reddy.

Kimmel has received Grammy Award nominations for producing the revival cast album of Hello, Dolly! and for his album with jazz pianist Fred Hersch, I Never Told You. In addition, he has produced solo albums for Petula Clark, Helen Reddy, Jason Graae, Liz Callaway, Christiane Noll, Rebecca Luker, Brent Barrett, Sally Mayes, Judy Kaye, and Judy Kuhn, among others. His Kritzerland, issues a new CD every two weeks.

Along with his work as a producer, Kimmel has written such musicals as The Brain From Planet X, created the film The Faculty, and written directed and starred in The First Nudie Musical movie. Among his television credits are The Partridge Family, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, and Alice, among others.
