Broadway’s Spring Awakening to Close January 18

The Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening will play its final Broadway performance at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on January 18. At the time of its closing, it will have played 859 performances and 29 previews.

Based on the 1891 play by Frank Wedekind, the show won eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The production features direction by Michael Mayer, choreography by Bill T. Jones, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, and a score by Duncan Sheik. The cast currently stars Hunter Parrish as Melchior, Alexandra Socha as Wendla, and Gerald Canonico as Moritz.
