Book of Mormon Star Josh Gad to Depart Show on June 6

Josh Gad will play his final performance as Elder Cunningham Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon, playing at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre as part of the show’s free fan performance on Wednesday, June 6 at 2pm, according to his Twitter account.

No permanent replacement has been named for Gad. His current understudy is Jared Gertner.


Gad will be starring in the upcoming NBC series, 1600 Penn alongside Bill Pullman, and in the new film jOBS as Apple founder Steve Wozyniak, alongside Ashton Kutcher and Matthew Modine.


The show, which won nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, is co-directed by Trey Parker and Casey Nicholaw, who also serves as the production’s choreographer, and is co-written by Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez.


The company also features Andrew Rannells as Elder Price, Nikki M. James as Nabulungi, Rory O’Malley as Elder McKinley and Michael Potts as Mafala Hatimbi.
