Bobby Steggert will receive the 2009-2010 Dorothy Loudon Starbaby Award at an invitation-only presentation of the 66th Annual Theatre World Awards, to be held at New World Stages on Tuesday, June 8.
Steggert is receiving the prize in recognition of his work in both Ragtime on Broadway, in which he played Younger Brother, and in the Off-Broadway musical Yank!, in which he played the lead role of Stu. He has received Drama Desk nominations for both roles, and a Tony Award nomination for Ragtime.
Among Steggert’s other credits are 110 in the Shade, The Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island, and Camelot.
The award is named in honor of Loudon, who starred in such Broadway shows as Ballroom and Annie, and carries the nickname that she had from her earliest days in the theater.
Twelve actors will be honored at the Theatre World Awards for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway debuts, including Scarlett Johansson, Sahr Ngaujah, Eddie Redmayne, and Michael Urie.
