Blue Coyote Theater Group will present the world premiere of David Johnston’s Coney at the New Ohio Theatre, October 27-November 17, with an opening on October 30. Gary Shrader will direct.

The play centers on a group of Coney Island die-hards, including carnival barkers and freakshow stars eking out a living; working class friends looking back at a lifetime of courtships on the boardwalk; and a young couple with an obsession for the film The Warriors on a touching first date.

Casting will be announced in the coming months.

Johnston’s prior plays include Candy and Dorothy, winner of a GLAAD award in 2006, as well as the GLAAD-nominated Busted Jesus Comix and a new adaptation of The Oresteia.
