Bernadette Peters, Nathan Lane, and All of Broadway Pay Tribute to Elaine Stritch

The toast of Broadway paid tribute to the late, great Elaine Stritch on November 17 during a memorial concert at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre titled Everybody, Rise! A Celebration of Elaine Stritch.

Directed by George C. Wolfe, who helmed Stritch's now-legendary solo show Elaine Stritch: At Liberty, the nearly two-hour program featured heartfelt and tearful reminiscences from Stritch's many pals, including Nathan Lane, Hal Prince, Liz Smith, and Holland Taylor, as well as moving performances by Bernadette Peters, Betty Buckley, Christine Ebersole, Michael Feinstein, Laura Benanti, Lena Hall, and Hunter Ryan Herdlicka. Rob Bowman, Stritch's longtime accompanist, served as musical director.

Stritch died at the age of 89 on July 17 after a Tony- and Emmy-winning career that included roles in Company, A Little Night Music, and 30 Rock, among many others. Her life was documented in the screen version of Elaine Stritch: At Liberty, as well as the recent film Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me. Chiemi Karasawa and Carol Fineman served as executive producers of the concert.

A percentage of all contributions to the event will be donated to the Elaine Stritch Scholarship Fund at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
