Bernadette Peters Bids Farewell to Hello, Dolly!

Tony winner Bernadette Peters said goodbye to role of Dolly Gallagher Levi and her Hello, Dolly! costars as she took her final bows after the performance on Sunday, July 15. Original Dolly! star Bette Midler will return to the role on Tuesday, July 17, for the show's remaining performances through August 25.

Returning to the show alongside Midler will be Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce, who received a Tony nomination for his performance as Horace Vandergelder.

Directed by Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, Hello, Dolly! began previews March 15, 2017, and opened on April 20, 2017. Based on Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker, Michael Stewart and Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly! premiered on Broadway in 1964, starring Carol Channing in the title role. This production received the 2017 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, as well as Tonys for Midler and Gavin Creel's performances.
