BroadwayHD will premiere the filmed version of Benjamin Scheuer's autobiographical solo musical The Lion on December 6. Shot at the Geffen Playhouse during its run there in 2017, The Lion is directed for the stage by Sean Daniels and for the screen by Kevin S. Bright.

The Lion is a story of love, loss, family loyalty, and the power of music, which looks back on Scheuer's youth and how he dealt with a verbally abusive father and a diagnosis with cancer in his 20s. The creative team for The Lion includes Neil Patel (scenic design), Jennifer Caprio (costume consultant), Ben Stanton (lighting design), and Leon Rothenberg (sound design).

Scheuer's musical debuted at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, played in 2014 at Manhattan Theatre Club and later ran at the Lynn Redgrave Theatre, before touring the United States.
