Chaz Bono won the Stephen F. Kolzak Award for promoting equality, will Becoming Chaz, the documentary about his transition from a woman to a man, received outstanding documentary.
In addition, Beginners, which starred Oscar winner Christopher Plummer as an aging gay man who comes out to his son (played by Ewan McGregor), won outstanding wide-release film; ABC’s hit sitcom Modern Family, which co-stars Ferguson, was named outstanding comedy series; and Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, starring Brooke Elliott, and TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland, which stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Betty White, tied for outstanding television episode.
In addiiton, film actorJosh Hutcherson received the Vanguard Award for co-founding the tolerance group Straight But Not Narrow.
