Austin Pendleton to Direct Boston Midsummer Opera’s Don Pasquale

Boston Midsummer Opera is set to present Don Pasquale by Donizetti, July 25-29 at Tsai Performance Center at Boston University. Award winning playwright, director, and actor Austin Pendleton will direct. Susan Davenny Wyner will conduct.

In the opera, the old bachelor Don Pasquale plans to marry and have a son and heir in order to punish his rebellious nephew, Ernesto, who is in love with a young widow.

The cast will feature bass Ricardo Lugo (Don Pasquale), soprano Leslie Ann Bradley (Norina), baritone David Kravitz (Dr. Malatesta), and tenor Alex Richardson (Ernesto).

The design team will include Stephen Dobay (set design), John Cuff (lighting design), and Charles Schoonmaker (costume design).
