Center Theatre Group’s presentation of Appropriate begins performances tonight at the Mark Taper Forum.

The story centers on a family forced to reunite at the family home in Arkansas. As the estranged relatives come together to settle the recently deceased patriarch’s estate, they discover more than they bargained for. Within the ruin and clutter of the dilapidated plantation home a disturbing photo album brings to light old family secrets. Tempers run high as siblings debate the ties to this unwanted legacy and old rivalries resurface in this examination of family and the unspoken.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ play is directed by Obie Award-winner Eric Ting, and the cast features Hugo Armstrong, Robert Beitzel, Melora Hardin, Grace Kaufman, Zarah Mahler, Will Tranfo, and Missy Yager.

The creative team includes Mimi Lien (set design), Laura Bauer (costume design), Christopher Kuhl (lighting design), Matt Tierney (sound design), Steve Rankin (fight director), and David S. Franklin (stage manager).

Performances will run through November 1.
