Academy Award winners Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman will star in the film version of Florian Zeller's The Father, set to begin shooting this May.

Zeller will direct the film from a screenplay he cowrote with Christopher Hampton, who translated the French play into English. The drama received a Molière Award upon its Paris premiere, before appearing on the West End. Frank Langella received a Tony Award for his performances when the work premiered on Broadway.

An examination of living with Alzheimer's, The Father tells the story of a father (Hopkins) and daughter (Colman), who try to make sense of changing circumstances as he starts to lose control of his own mind.
