The 2012 BBC Proms will present over 90 concerts, July 13-September 8.
Highlights of the series, which focuses on classical music, include a semi-staged production of My Fair Lady starring Anthony Andrews and Annalene Beachey; a salute to the work of Ivor Novello, featuring Simon Callow, a performance of the Gilbert & Sullivan’s operetta The Yeoman of the Guard, and the English National Opera’s production of Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes.
For the opening night of the Proms, four British conductors, Martyn Brabbins, Sir Mark Elder, Edward Gardner , and Sir Roger Norrington, will share duties at the podium, while singers will include Susan Gritton, Sarah Connolly, Robert Murray, Gerald Finley, and Bryn Terfel.
Other participating artists will include John Adams, Marin Alsop, Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, the Juilliard Orchestra, the Aldeburgh World Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmoniker , the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.
