The Donmar Warehouse has announced additional selections for its summer-fall 2012 season, which will include Alan Hollinghurst’s new version of Jean Racine’s Berenice, running September 27 – November 24. Josie Rourke will direct this tragedy set in ancient Rome, which will be designed by Lucy Osborne and star Anne-Marie Duff in the title role.
Also newly announced for the theater’s fall season is a revival of Brian Friel’s Philadelphia, Here I Come!, to run July 26 – September 22. Lyndsey Turner will direct Friel’s memory play about a young man on his final night in Ireland before emigrating to America. The company will feature Rory Keenan and Paul Reid. Additional casting will be announced.
In addition to these two productions, the Donmar Warehouse has also announced complete casting for Rourke’s staging of Jack Thorne’s new version of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s The Physicists, to run May 31 – July 21. In addition to the previously reported Paul Bhattacharjee (Einstein), Joanna Brookes (Nurse Boll), John Heffernan (Johann Wilhelm Möbius), Miranda Raison (Nurse Monika/Lina Rose), John Ramm (Detective Inspector Richard Voss), Justin Salinger (Newton), Sophie Thompson (Dr Mathilde von Zahnd), and Oliver Coopersmith (Wilfried Kaspar Möbius / Blocher), the company will feature Ben Hardy (Adolf-Friedrich Möbius / Coroner), Adam McNamara (Uwe Sievers), and Obioma Ugoala (Fantam Murillo).
