The original cast recording of Amour, the Michel Legrand musical that played briefly on Broadway last fall, will be released by Sh-K-Boom Records on Tuesday, July 8. The CD will contain more than 74 minutes of music and will include a bonus track of Legrand playing and singing one of the show’s songs.
Directed by James Lapine, Amour starred Malcolm Gets and Melissa Errico. The musical tells the story of an insecure man who learns that he has the power to walk through walls. The original French book and lyrics for the show are by Didier Van Cauwelaert, with the English adaptation provided by Jeremy Sams. The cast of the Broadway production also featured Lewis Cleale, John Cunningham, Christopher Fitzgerald, Norm Lewis, Sarah Litzsinger, Nora Mae Lyng, and Bill Nolte.
Earlier this week, Amour was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Score. It was also nominated for nine Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Music, Outstanding Lyrics, and Outstanding Orchestrations.
