Amélie to Say Au Revoir to Broadway

Broadway’s Amélie, based on the Academy Award-nominated French film of the same name, will end its run at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Sunday, May 21 after 27 previews and 56 regular performances. The production began previews on March 9, starring Hamilton Tony nominee Phillipa Soo.

Amélie features a book by Tony nominee Craig Lucas (An American in Paris), music by Daniel Messé of the band Hem, and lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Messé. The production is directed by Tony winner Pam MacKinnon and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton.

The company also includes Adam Chanler-Berat, Tony Award nominees Manoel Felciano and Tony Sheldon, as well as David Andino, Randy Blair, Heath Calvert, Alison Cimmet, Savvy Crawford, Harriett D. Foy, Alyse Alan Louis, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Paul Whitty, Emily Afton, and Jacob Keith Watson.

The new musical boasts scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Jane Cox and Mark Barton, sound design by Kai Harada, projection design by Peter Nigrini, musical direction by Kimberly Grigsby, vocal arrangements by Grigsby and Messé, and orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin. It had its world premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2015, where it starred Samantha Barks, and played a pre-Broadway run at L.A.’s the Ahmanson Theatre.
