Broadway favorites Phillipa Soo (Hamilton) and Adam Chanler-Berat (Peter and the Starcatcher) will lead Amélie, A New Musical to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre beginning Thursday, March 9. Opening night is set for Monday, April 3.

Based on the Academy Award-nominated French film, the show features a book by Tony nominee Craig Lucas (An American in Paris), music by Daniel Messé of the band Hem, and lyrics by Nathan Tysen (Tuck Everlasting) and Messé. It is directed by Tony winner Pam MacKinnon and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton. It had its world premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2015, and will run at the Ahmanson Theatre December 4-January 15.

The musical follows the mesmerizing journey of the inquisitive and charmingly shy Amélie who turns the streets of Montmartre into a world of her own imagining, while secretly orchestrating moments of joy for those around her. After discovering a mysterious photo album and meeting a handsome stranger, Amélie realizes that helping others is easier than participating in a romantic story of her own.

The Los Angeles company is made up of Soo, Chanler-Berat, Emily Afton, Alyse Alan Louis, David Andino, Randy Blair, Heath Calvert, Alison Cimmet, Savvy Crawford, Manoel Felciano, Harriett D. Foy, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Tony Sheldon, Jacob Keith Watson, and Paul Whitty. Full casting for the Broadway engagement is still to be announced.

The production features scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Jane Cox and Mark Barton, sound design by Kai Harada, projection design by Peter Nigrini, musical direction by Kimberly Grigsby, vocal arrangements by Grigsby and Messé, and orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin.
