Award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney’s In the Red and Brown Water, will be presented at the Alliance Theatre, February 1-24.
The production will be directed by Tina Landau.
In the Red and Brown Water tells the story of Oya, a young woman facing difficult choices regarding her athletic talent, college career, ailing mother and her desires for a military man who is not her husband. McCraney is best known for The Brothers Size.
The cast includes William Cobbs, Rodrick Covington, Chinai J. Hardy, Jon Michael Hill, Andre Holland, Daniel Thomas May, Kianne Muschett, Carra Patterson, Heather Alicia Simms, and Sharisa Whatley.
The creative team includes Mimi Lien (sets), Jessica Jahn (costumes), Scott Thomas Zielinski (lighting), and Mimi Epstein (sound). Landau’s many directorial credits include Bells are Ringing, Miracle Brothers, and Dream True.
