Pocket Universe's all-female Julius Caesar is set to open tonight, and a new set of production photos have been released in advance. The production, conceived by Alyssa May Gold and directed by Katie Young, plays at the Access Theater.
In the production, set at an all-girls high school, six young women will play all roles in this coming-of-age story that follows a group of teenagers through their first tastes of power, the desire to seize it, and the life-and-death battle to keep it.
The production stars Gold herself (Arcadia) as Brutus, Déa Julien (West Side Story first national tour) as Julius Caesar, Violeta Picayo (Bedlam's Sense & Sensibility) as Mark Antony, Madeline Wolf (Fun Home) as Cassius, Miranda Cornell as Casca, and Amie Tedesco as Lucius. All other roles will be played by members of the company.
Pocket Universe is a New York City-based theater and film production company dedicated to reconsidering and reimagining classic stories and conventions.
