The album will include Alan Menken’s classic tunes plus new songs written for the stage musical.
Walt Disney Records will release the Broadway cast recording of Disney's newest stage musical, Aladdin, later this season. The album will be available for digital download on May 27 in advance of the album's physical release on June 17.
Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Aladdin features the tunes made popular by the hit 1992 animated film as well as additional songs with music by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Oscar winner Howard Ashman, Tony and Oscar winner Tim Rice, and Tony nominee Chad Beguelin. The production, directed and choreographed by Tony winner Casey Nicholaw, also includes a book by Beguelin. The album will include the complete Broadway score, plus additional bonus content created especially for the cast recording.
Adam Jacobs leads the cast of Aladdin in the title role, alongside Courtney Reed as Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as Genie, and Tony nominee Jonathan Freeman as Jafar.
