Betsy Aidem, Noel Joseph Allain, Torsten Hillhouse, Alysia Reiner, John Rothman, and Jeffrey Woodard will star in the New York premiere of Abi Morgan’s Tender, to run January 19-February 9 at the Michael Weller Theatre. The production, which will open officially on January 23, will be directed by Kevin O’Rourke.
The play takes place in a city full of chance encounters. Al loves Hen, but now there is a baby on the way and everything looks different. Gloria loves Marvin, but one day he walked out and disappeared. And Hen’s friend Tash just loves a laugh and a drink. Morgan was nominated for a 2002 Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Playwright for Tender. She also wrote the play Splendour, the TV drama Sex Traffic, and the HBO film Tsunami; The Aftermath.
The creative team includes Kevin Judge (sets), Alixandra Gage Englund (costumes), Lilly Fossner (lighting), and Arielle Edwards (sound). O’Rourke most recently directed the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of The Physicists.
