Victory Gardens has announced casting for its upcoming production of Luis Alfaro’s Oedipus el Rey, to run June 29-July 29 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater. Chay Yew will direct.
Oedipus el Rey is a sexy, modern take on a classic tale. In the play, a young Chicano ex-con sets out to be the king of the Los Angeles gangland, fighting against the vicious cycle of fate and violence that awaits him.
The cast will feature Adam Poss (Oedipus), Arturo Soria (Creon), Charin Alvarez (Jocasta), Eddie Torres (Tiresias), Jessie David Perez (Coro), Madrid St. Angelo (Laius), and Steve Casillas (Coro).
The design team will include Kevin Depinet (set design), Jesse Klug (lighting design), Mikhail Fiksel (sound design), and David Hyman (costume design).
