Ford made her Broadway debut in a 1938 production of The Shoemaker’s Holiday and went on to appear in productions of Miss Julie, The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore, The House of Bernard Alba, the musical The Grass Harp, and Harold and Maude.
In 1959, she appeared opposite her then-husband, Zachary Scott, in Requiem for a Nun, which was adapted from William Faulkner’s Sanctuary. The play was directed by Tony Richardson.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Scott.
