Broadway's hit musical Chicago welcomed Drama Desk Award nominee Alexander Gemignani to the Ambassador Theatre on Sunday, January 25, in a limited return engagement as Billy Flynn through Friday, March 13.

Gemignani has stepped into the role for Tony Award nominee John Dossett, who sustained an injury.

Dossett's previously announced debut engagement as Billy Flynn, originally scheduled to begin on Monday, January 19, has now been delayed until Saturday, March 14.

Gemignani first headlined the Broadway company of Chicago in summer 2013. His other Broadway credits include starring roles in Violet, Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd, and Assassins.

As previously announced, Grammy Award winner Jennifer Nettles and Pippin veteran Carly Hughes will take over as Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, respectively, beginning February 2.

The current cast of Chicago also features two-time Tony Award nominee Charlotte d'Amboise as Roxie Hart (through February 1), Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly (through February 1), Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron "Mama" Morton, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines.
