The Tony Award-winning musical begins performances tonight.
A Little Night Music, one of Sondheim’s most romantic and popular works, starts this evening at Huntington Theatre Company.
Taking place over the span of a single weekend, the musical centers on Desiree Armfeldt. The famous actress and the eclectic cast of characters surrounding her engage in a variety of high society high jinks in the Swedish countryside. During the eventful weekend, lovers reunite, passions reignite, and new romances blossom. The show includes one of Sondheim’s best-known songs, "Send in the Clowns."
This production of the beloved musical, with music and lyrics by Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, is directed by Peter Dubois. The cast features Amy Barker as Mrs. Anderson, Wendi Bergamini as Mrs. Nordstrom, Stephen Bogardus as Fredrik Egerman, Aimee Doherty as Mrs. Segstorm, McCaela Donovan as Petra, Haydn Gwynne as Desiree Armfeldt, Morgan Kirner as Anne Egerman, Mike McGowan as Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm, Lauren Molina as Countess Charlotte Malcolm, Andrew O’Shanick as Mr. Lindquist, Sam Simahk as Frid, Bobbie Steinbach as Madame Armfeldt, Nick Sulfaro as Mr. Erlanson, Pablo Torres as Henrik Egerman, Lauren Weintraub as Fredrika Armfeldt, and Cailin Doran, Sarah Oakes Muirhead, and Patrick Varner as swings.
The creative team includes Daniel Pelzig (choreographer), Derek McLane (set design), Robert Morgan (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Jon Weston (sound design), Jonathan Mastro (music director), and Kevin Schlagle (stage manager).
Performances will run through November 8.
