The show will play a 10-day run this September at Asylum NYC.

Tiffany will make her New York theatrical debut in Spandex the Musical, which is set to begin preview performances at AsylumNYC on September 17 ahead of an official opening night September 19. The very limited run will conclude September 27.
Best known for her hit 1987 cover “I Think We’re Alone Now,” Tiffany will star as stars as Linda Gufstafson, a housewife set to compete in the 1988 Crystal Light National Aerobics Championship, hosted by Alan Thicke. Press material describes Spandex as, “half The Karate Kid underdog story, half A Chorus Line, and two-thirds viral video that inspired a nation.”
Spandex features a book, music, and lyrics by Daniel F. Levin, music by Julian Blackmore, book by Annie Grunow, and direction and choreography by Liz Piccoli.
Tiffany, who worked as a dancer and actor before her pop career took off, said, “I’ve always believed the right role would find me, and the moment I read the script, I knew Linda was that character.”
Tiffany will be joined onstage by Sims Lamason, Catherine Ashmore Bradley, Nawaf Nooruddin and William Boyajian. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The creative team also includes Jefferson Ridenour as scenic and video designer, Vanessa Leuck as costume designer, Mark London as lighting designer, and Kai Harada as sound designer.
Last fall, AsylumNYC was home to the surprise hit musical Slam Frank, which recently announced a transfer to the Orpheum Theatre off-Broadway.
