Silver also appeared in the Broadway productions of Hurlyburly and Social Security. His Off-Broadway credits included And, Hunting Cockroaches, and Friends.
His many film and television credits included Jack, The West Wing, Veronica’s Closet, Kissinger and Nixon, The Stockard Channing Show, Billionaire Boys’ Club, and Semi-Tough.
Silver was also president of Actors’ Equity from 1991-2000, and was involved in many humanitarian and political causes, including The Creative Coalition.
He is survived by his two children.
