Samuel L. Jackson, Anika Noni Rose, Vanessa Williams Among NAACP Image Award Nominees

The nominations for the 43rd NAACP Image Awards have been announced, according to a report on Deadline. The prizes will be presented in a ceremony to be held on February 17 and broadcast on NBC.


Among the nominees in the categories for films are stage veteran Laurence Fishburne, nominated for an Outstanding Leading Actor in a Motion Picture award for his performance in Contagion and Viola Davis, nominated in the Leading Actress category for her performance in The Help. Additionally, Anthony Mackie (The Adjustment Bureau), Don Cheadle (The Guard), and Jeffrey Wright (The Ides of March) are among the nominees in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category. Bryce Dallas-Howard, Cicely Tyson, and Octavia Spencer from The Help have each been nominated for the Supporting Actress award.

The nominees for Outstanding Motion Picture are Jumping the Broom, Pariah, The First Grader, The Help, and Tower Heist.


In television categories, Dulé Hill has been nominated for a Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series award for his work on Pysch, and Vanessa Williams has been nominated in comedy leading actress category for Desperate Housewives. Among the leading actor nominees for drama series are Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age), Taye Diggs (Private Practice) and Wendell Pierce (Treme). Leading actress nominess include Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh for Grey’s Anatomy.


Among the nominees for television movies are leading actors Laurence Fishburne (Thurgood), Louis Gossett, Jr. (The Least Among You) and Samuel L. Jackson (The Sunset Limited) and leading actresses Anika Noni Rose (Hallmark Hall of Fame, Mitch Albom’s Have a Little Faith) and Rosario Dawson (Five).


Also nominated are Diahann Carroll, Loretta Devine, Omar Epps, Alfre Woodard, and Yvette Freeman.
