Broadway’s Tituss Burgess (The Little Mermaid, Jersey Boys), has partnered with New York’s Middle Collegiate Church to compose and produce (in conjunction with Dionne McClain-Freeney and Stefan Held) a gospel album entitled Welcome, set to launch on June 9 at 6pm. The album features vocal performances by Burgess, Alyson Palmer (of the rock band BETTY), and Broadway veteran and 2013 Drama Desk Award nominee Jenny Powers (Donnybrook!). The three sing Burgess’s original songs, which blend together the genres of old-school gospel, jazz, and theatrical tunes.

Burgess composed the album to support to Middle Collegiate Church’s social justice ministries. “Middle Church cares about everyone,” he said in a statement. “It’s not a surface level concern. It runs deep.”

Burgess, Palmer, and Powers are joined on Welcome by a roster of seasoned performers including Kristina Nicole Miller (The Lion King), Tami Petty (American Symphony Orchestra and San Francisco Opera Center), Jarvis Derell, Martina Sykes, Amy Lynn Hamlin, Joe Caruncho, and Allison Mickelson.
