The Old Vic’s 2011 TS Eliot US/UK Exchange to Feature New Short Plays at Vineyard Theatre

Seven new short plays will be presented as part of The Old Vic’s 2011 TS Eliot US/UK Exchange program, at the Vineyard Theatre on Friday, May 6 at 3pm.

From Royal Weddings, to rural love affairs, the plays offer a series of contrasting, tragic-comic perspectives on life in modern Britain. Following the show, a reception will be held with the artists.

Writers include Jonathan Brittain, Jake Brunger, Steven Hevey, Ella Hickson, Sabrina Mahfouz, Ruth Pickett, and Hannah Rodger. Directors include Russell Bolam, Suba Das, Natalie Ibu, Oliver Rose, Luke Sheppard, Lotte Wakeham, and Kirsty Patrick Ward.

Performers include Nicholas Banks, Lucy Benson-Brown, Nick Blakeley, Mattie Crowley, Samuel Donnelly, Emma Dennis Edwards, Jessica Ellis, Lesa Gillespie, Annie Hemmingway, Heather Johnson, Paul Joseph, Samantha Kissin, Nick Lawson, Anna Maguire, Sam Marks, Patrick Myles, David Mumeni, Benjamin O’Mahoney, Alex Papadakis, Samantha Pearl, Fiona Skinner, George Taylor, Alice White, and Slinky Winfield.

The TS Eliot US/UK Exchange — run by Old Vic New Voices – The Old Vic’s education, community and emerging talent department — is designed to introduce the best young British and American theatre practitioners to their counterparts across the Atlantic. Supported by the T.S. Eliot Estate, and hosted in partnership with the Vineyard Theatre, The Exchange offers 21-30 year old artists the opportunity to engage in a week of cultural activity and artistic development, culminating in a showcase of original plays.
