Public Theater Gala Celebrates Revolutionary Musicals From Hair to Hamilton

The Public Theater held its 2017 annual gala, Hair to Hamilton, 50 years of Revolutionary Musicals, on Monday, June 5. Check out photos from the evening in the gallery below.


The evening featured performances by Sasha Allen, Brooks Ashmanskas, Nathaniel Claridad, Natalie Cortez, Matt Deangelis, Joshua Dela Cruz, Brandon Victor Dixon, Claybourne Elder, Kristian Espiritu, Christopher Jackson, Brian d'Arcy James, Nikki M. James, Justin Keyes, Sydney Lucas, Omar Lopez-Cepero, John Lithgow, Kevin Mambo, Anastaćia McCleskēy, Leslie McDonel, Ruthie Ann Miles, Kevin Moon Loh, Mary Kate Morrissey, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Brandon Pearson, Diane Phelan, Paris Remillard, Anika Noni Rose, George Salazar, Jennifer Sanchez, Kacie Sheik, Britton Smith, Phillipa Soo, Eric Lajuan Summers, Will Swenson, Mary Testa, Kirstin Villanueva, Akron Watson, Dan'yelle Williamson, and Juson Williams.

The evening featured songs from Public Theater productions including Hamilton, Hair, A Chorus Line, Fun Home, Runaways, The Pirates of Penzance, and more.

Julia Pershan and Julio Peterson served as gala cochairs for the event celebrating the late LuEsther T. Mertz for her invaluable contribution to the past, present, and future of the Public Theater.
