Pippin Star Matthew James Thomas Joins New HBO Pilot by Orange Is the New Black Creator

Broadway favorite Matthew James Thomas (Pippin) is set to join the cast of a new HBO pilot as a series regular, according to Deadline. Thomas joins previously announced cast members Nadia Alexander, Ismenia Mendes, and Broadway veteran Eddie Izzard (Race).
The period drama, which is currently using the title The Devil You Know, is set during the Salem Witch Trials in 17th century New England. Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan cowrote the pilot along with Bruce Miller and Tracy Miller.
Additional newly announced cast members include Ever Carradine, Damien Molony, Julian Rhind Tutt, Nigel Lindsay, Ewen Bremner, Karen Gillan, Hannah Nordberg, Naian Gonzalez Norvind and Zawe Ashton, Will Pullen, Kate Nash, and Seana Kofoed.
Matthew James Thomas made his Broadway debut in the cast of Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark before going on to star in the title role in Diane Paulus' Tony-winning revival of Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's Pippin.
