Songs From Monte Cristo: A New Musical will be released by Center Stage Records in digital and streaming formats tomorrow, July 10. Based on Alexandre Dumas’ novel and the 19th-century play by Charles Fechter, Monte Cristo features book and lyrics by Tony nominee Peter Kellogg and music by Stephen Weiner.
These tracks were recorded by the cast of the original off-Broadway production directed by Peter Flynn, including Adam Jacobs, Sierra Boggess, and Norm Lewis. Below is a first listen of Boggess singing “How Did I Get So Far Away.”
In addition to Jacobs as the wrongfully imprisoned hero Edmund Dantes, Sierra Boggess as Mercedes, the love of his life, and Norm Lewis is Villefort, the company also featured Danny Rutigliano as Caderousse and the Abbe Faria, Karen Ziemba as Carconte, Daniel Yearwood as Fernand, Stephanie Jae Park as Haydee, James Judy as Danglars, Kate Fitzgerald as Eugenie, Jadon Lopez as Albert, and Eliseo Roman as Morrel.
The recording was produced by David Hancock Turner and Joanna Lynne Staub, with Van Dean serving as executive producer.
