Pay What You Can to See She Stoops to Comedy at Playwrights Horizons on April 3

Playwrights Horizons will continue its popular “Pay What You Can Night” program with the first preview performance of She Stoops to Comedy, a new play written by, directed by, and starring David Greenspan, on April 3.

The program, which was first implemented last season with the first preview of Franny’s Way, makes a limited number of tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis at 6:30pm, one hour before showtime (7:30pm). Tickets may not be purchased in advance and there is a limit of two per person. Ticket buyers are encouraged to arrive early.

According to Playwrights Horizons artistic director Tim Sanford, “Pay What You Can Night” has been “an incredibly important initiative” for the company, “not only in providing affordable tickets to students, senior citizens, and artists but also to some of our neighbors in the 42nd Street area who have embraced us so warmly for 32 years.”

Greenspan appeared in the Playwrights Horizons production of The Wax and directed Kate’s
Diary for the company. Also appearing in She Stoops to Comedy are Mia Barron (The World Over), Marissa Copeland (Psych), E. Katherine Kerr (The Credeaux Canvas, Laughing Wild), Philip Tabor (Other People), and T. Ryder Smith (Underneath the Lintel).

She Stoops to Comedy will be the premiere production at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater in Playwrights Horizons’ recently opened new home at 416 West 42nd Street. Future “Pay What You Can Nights” are scheduled for the upcoming productions of Doug Wright’s I Am My Own Wife on Friday, May 2 and Theresa Rebeck’s Bad Dates on Tuesday, June 3.
