Liz McCartney and Jim Walton to Star in George Street's Souvenir
The play, which is considered a "fantasia," focuses on Florence Foster Jenkins, the New York socialite who became famous for her singing recitals despite the fact that she had a horrible singing voice, and her relationship with pianist Cosme McMoon. The show was produced at the York Theatre Company in New York before moving to Broadway in November 2005; Tony Award winner Judy Kaye played Jenkins in those productions.
McCartney's Broadway credits include Taboo, Mamma Mia!, Dance of the Vampires, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She appeared Off-Broadway in Bingo and previously appeared at George Street in Songs for a New World.
