Tony Award nominees Joshua Henry (The Scottsboro Boys), Keala Settle (Hands on a Hardbody), and Christopher Sieber (La Cage Aux Folles) will join two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster in the upcoming New York City Center Encores! Off-Center July 17 concert performance of Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley’s Violet. Directed by Leigh Silverman and music-directed by Michael Rafter, the one-night-only event is completely sold out.

Based on Doris Betts’ short story The Ugliest Pilgrim, Violet tells the story of a young woman who embarks on a religious pilgrimage in the hopes of being healed of her disfiguring scar. The musical played a limited run at Playwrights Horizons in 1997.

Joining Foster, Henry, Settle, and Sieber are Chris Sullivan (Nice Work If You Can Get It), Van Hughes, Austin Lesch, Anastacia McCleskey, Emerson Steele, Rema Webb, Paul Whitty, and the gospel choir Songs of Solomon.

As previously reported, the new Encores! Off-Center series will also present the off-Broadway musicals The Cradle Will Rock and I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road.
