Israel Horovitz to Discuss Lebensraum at Makor logo
Israel Horovitz
Playwright Israel Horovitz will participate in a special reading and discussion of his play Lebensraum at 1pm on Sunday, December 10 at Makor (35 West 67th Street). He will be joined by Jonathan Rest, who will direct the upcoming production of the play, which will run December 13-30 at the Kirk Theatre on Theatre Row.

In Lebensraum, three actors (T. Ryder Smith, Suli Holum, and Ryan Young) will play over 80 characters. The daring comic-drama is based on the premise that a German chancellor might, as an act of redemption, invite six millions Jews to relocate in Germany, with promises of citizenship and employment.

Horovitz is the author of more than 50 plays including Park Your Car in Harvard Yard, Morning, Noon, and Night, The Indian Wants the Bronx, and Line. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Obie, Emmy, and Drama Desk. He is also the co-founder of Gloucester Stage Company in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Israel Horovitz's New Shorts, a group of nine plays, will be seen in January 3-21 at Theatre Row, and the New York Playwrights Lab will produce his play The Secret of Mme. Bonnard's Bath in February at Theatre Row.

Tickets to the event are $7. To order, call 212-601-1000 or visit
