George Wendt to Be Featured in NYMF’s Re-Animator The Musical

George Wendt, perhaps best known for his role as Norm on TV’s Cheers, will be featured in the New York Musical Theatre Festival production of Re-Animator The Musical, to be presented at PTC Performance Space, July 17-22.

This musical adaptation of the cult film has a book by Dennis Paoli, Stuart Gordon & William J. Norris, with music & lyrics by Mark Nutter. Stuart Gordon directs, with choreography by Cynthia Carle and musical direction by Peter Adams. The production involves considerable bloodshed will feature a “splash zone” in the first few rows of the theater.

The musical — which won Winner of 6 L.A. Weekly Awards — tells the story of Herbert West, a brilliant young medical student who has created a glowing green serum that can bring the dead back to life. What should be a medical breakthrough results in hideous monstrosities and ghastly consequences.

The original Los Angeles cast reteams for the NYMF production. Wendt plays the Dean of the Medical School who West transforms into a mindless zombie. The cast also features Graham Skipper as Herbert West, Chris L. McKenna, as Dan Cain, Jesse Merlin as Dr. Carl Hill, and Rachel Avery as Meg, along with Mark Beltzman, Cynthia Carle, Brian Gillespie, Marlon Grace, Liesel Hanson, and Tyler Milliron.
