EXCLUSIVE: Lea Salonga Sings an Unexpected Miss Saigon Tune at MCC's Miscast

Broadway’s Tony-winning Kim lends her pipes to an iconic Chris ballad.

In 1991, Lea Salonga took Broadway by storm with her now-legendary debut performance as Kim in the Boublil and Schönberg musical Miss Saigon. The role of Kim has some pretty iconic songs, "Sun and Moon" and "I'd Give My Life For You" among them. But one of the most powerful songs in the show, "Why God Why," is written for the character of Chris, the soldier who falls for Kim. But why would Salonga let that stand in her way? At this year's MCC Theater Miscast gala, she proved that Miss Saigon is still in her bones, and it blew everyone away.
