Cerveris, Garrison, Ziemba, et al. Set for Project Shaw's The Philanderer
Shaw's play, described as a racy comedy, concerns Leonard Charteris, who finds himself romantically involved with two women at the same time. Worse yet, they all belong to the controversial Ibsen Club, where men are forbidden to behave in a manly way and women aren't allowed to be girlish. There is also a doctor who has rocked modern science by discovering a new, fatal disease -- which may or may not exist.
This will be the last free reading for Project Shaw; starting in January, tickets to these readings will be $15. Upcoming readings will include Candida, starring Blair Brown and Matt Cavenaugh, in January; a pair of one-acts The Music Cure and Interlude at the Playhouse, starring Marian Seldes, in February; and Androcles and the Lion in April, which will feature a cast made up primarily of theater journalists.
