Bronx Bombers Bats Its Final Inning on Broadway
Eric Simonson's Yankee-themed production will close on March 2.
Bronx Bombers, Eric Simonson's new Yankee-inspired drama, will play its final performance at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre on March 2. The production celebrated its Broadway opening on February 6 after an off-Broadway run at the Duke on 42nd Street in the fall of 2013.
Peter Scolari and his wife, Tracy Shayne, star as the legendary Yogi and Carmen Berra, who attempt to lead their beloved Yankees through a time of turmoil. Also featured in the cast are Francois Battiste (Reggie Jackson/Elston Howard), Chris Henry Coffey (Joe DiMaggio), Bill Dawes (Mickey Mantle/Thurman Munson), Christopher Jackson (Derek Jeter), Keith Nobbs (Billy Martin), John Wernke (Lou Gehrig), and C.J. Wilson (Babe Ruth).
The play opens in the aftermath of a dugout fight, mediated by Yogi Berra, between player Reggie Jackson and manager Billy Martin. The story then proceeds into a dream dinner party, attended by some of the greatest players in baseball history.
