Broadway’s The 39 Steps to Close on January 10

The Broadway production of The 39 Steps will conclude its run at the Helen Hayes Theater on January 10. The show will have played 771 performances, having begun its run at the American Airlines Theatre and then moving to the Cort Theatre before the Hayes.

Directed by Maria Aitken, the play is a comedic take on Hitchcock’s 1935 classic thriller of the same name about a man who is forced by a mysterious woman’s death into a cross-country race for his life. The play is adapted by Patrick Barlow, based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon and on the book by John Buchan. The play won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, as well as two Tony Awards, and two Drama Desk Awards.

The cast currently stars Sean Mahon (Richard Hannay), Jill Paice (Annabella/Pamela/Margaret), Jeffrey Kuhn (Man #1), and Arnie Burton (Man #2). The creative team includes Peter McKintosh (sets and costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), and Mic Pool (sound).
