20th Century Fox is on its way to start producing Broadway plays. The film-making corporation has assembled a team including Broadway producer and Tony Award winner Kevin McCollum (Motown), film producer John Davis (I Robot), and industry executive Tom McGrath to develop live stage productions based upon the studio’s library of films.

Together, the team plans to develop a slate of at least nine musicals over the next several years as well as to develop and produce stage properties based on Fox films that can return to the big screen in their new form.

“The early development phase is both an exciting and vulnerable time in the life of a musical. This new joint venture provides a much needed foundation to the creative process for myself, my partners, and the artists who will develop these shows,” said Kevin McCollum in a statement.

The company has also engaged New York Musical Theatre Festival Executive Director Isaac Robert Hurwitz as a theatrical consultant. For more on Hurwitz and his work at NYMF, click here.
