Alfred Preisser and Randy Weiner's Caligula Maximus is set for a run at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre from March 11 - April 4. Casting for the piece will be announced at a later date.

The show, which blends circus, music, dance and theater, takes place on the last night of the notorious dictator's life, in his palace where he is stage managing, directing, and starring in one of his famous "entertainments" which test the limits of human intellect and appetite.

Preisser and Weiner previously collaborated on Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe. Preisser's directorial credits include original adaptations of Medea, The Trojan Women, Derek Walcott's Dream on Monkey Mountain, Electra, and King Lear, which after premiering at Classical Theatre of Harlem, went on to open the 75th Anniversary Season of The Folger Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C.

Weiner, a frequent collaborator with Diane Paulus and a proponent of a hybrid form of theater, has also contributed to such pieces as The Donkey Show, Best of Both Worlds, and Swimming with Watermelons.
